WWE NXT Level Up 1/19/2024
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/01/wwe-nxt-level-up-1122024.html
Scrypts vs Brooks Jensen
Jaida Parker is with OTM. BJ shoves him down and rolls him up while he's in a side headlock. BJ armlocks him and shoulders him over. BJ slams him then lariats him over the top. BJ gets caught going back in and his leg is nailed on the ropes. BJ hits forearms and is kicked in the leg. Scrypts ddt's him then wraps his leg around the middle rope.
Scrypts back elbows him then hits a beautiful moonsault off the top. BJ monkey flips him then lariats him. BJ back body drops him and tries to suplex him in but is hit by Jaida. Scrypts cartwheels into a cutter and wins it.
It wasn't anything special but at least the knee work went somewhere here.
Hank and Tank are interviewed. They are told they will face The Catch Crew but don't know which of the two of them they get. Hank says they will play the hand they are dealt. Tank says the low man wins and said they will play with superior pad level tonight. They say there's only two truths in this world - they hit first and hit last. This was a goofy and fun short promo from these guys.
Jacy Jayne vs Carlee Bright
This is Carlee Bright's TV debut. No interview for her which is unusual. They say she is a former cheerleader from Minnesota. They say she is a ray of sunshine and ultra positive. Jacy dances to Carlee's upbeat music.
They lock up and Jacy pushes her on the ropes. Jacy rolls her into a nice pin attempt. Carlee then backslides her. Jacy hits a big forearm then they both crossbody at the same time and collide. Carlee pulls both of her arms back and Byron talks about some kind of talks with Jeff Bezos. Jacy hits lariats on Carlee then step up enzugiri's her.
Jacy corner cannonballs her then hits a nasty spinning forearm to win it.
We didn't see much of Carlee here but she didn't blow anything, so it wasn't a bad debut. She's decent looking and we'll have to see where it goes. The big note here was Byron bringing up Bezos as it's been rumored that Raw might end up on Amazon Prime. There was no way that was random.
Hank Walker and Tank Ledger vs No Quarter Catch Crew (Charlie Dempsey and Damon Kemp)
Myles Borne is wearing tights that are way too small. The Crew line up and two step back to show us who will be picked for this. It's Dempsey and Kemp.
Dempsey cravates Hank then goes for a chicken wing. Dempsey kimura's him and tags out. Kemp hits a shot to the gut then tanks Hank down. Tank criss crosses and pounces Kemp. Tank cartwheels and lariats Kemp.
Tank jumping back elbows Kemp then Hank splashes Kemp. Hank uppercuts Kemp then top rope lariats him. Dempsey and Kemp are picked up, their backs are slammed into each other then they take stereo world's strongest slams. Dempsey nails Hank from the apron then does a single stomp off the top onto him.
Dempsey euros Hank then rams him in the gut with his head. Dempsey hits knees to the gut then Hank takes a double back elbow. Kemp double stomps Hank for 2. Hank takes a german then takes another german from Dempsey. Dempsey puts him in the cobra twist.
Dempsey triangles Hank then Hank headbutts him. Both go down. Tank gets the hot tag in and shoulders over Dempsey. Tank 2nd rope twisting shoulders him. Tank bubba bombs Dempsey then Gulak and Borne get on the apron. Tank bangs their heads together and Dempsey hits Tank in the gut. Kemp hits a side effect on Tank and wins it.
It was a decent match. Hank and Tank looked good here and The Crew were fine. Nothing wrong with this one.
Overall thoughts: It was okay. The main was fine and Carlee Bright had an acceptable debut. The opener was really only notable for Jaida Parker officially joining OTM. Scrypts hit a nice moonsault in that match though. We also heard a line about Jeff Bezos that make give some legitimacy to the Raw on Amazon rumor.
